Home Church Movement

Here is a solution for those Christians who are afraid that the LGBT will invade and corrupt their congregations – start meeting again in homes as the first century Christians did, as many Christians do today around the world. Home churches are more cost effective (no huge infrastructure costs), more personal, more spiritually involving for it’s members, and safer. Keep the numbers down but create more churches.

Simply meeting in homes won’t really accomplish much, because the body of Christ has lost the vision of what it should be.

The “church” as we know it, see it and experience it in our modern world is not what God intends or desires for His people. In fact, the organized, institutional church… and that term includes home churches, independent churches & non-denominational churches… is more of a hindrance to achieving the Lord’s purposes and plans than a help.

At the risk of getting in trouble in the country where I currently reside, I have to disagree. I have met in large congregations where the majority of the members “just show up”. Now I work secretly, for the most part, in a small house church, in a country where that is not legal. In fact it is generally believed most Christians in this country meet in this manner and they are hardly the sit in the pew types. Our services are dynamic and involved for every member and each one learns how to live Christianity. I think that is a lesson my congregations could learn back in Detroit.

    Thanks for responding.

I’m aware that the body in other places than the west experience differing levels of real body life. I probably should have been more clear.

If you’re interested in reading about some of my experiences of what I call “the real thing”, check out http://whatischurch.org/the-living-body-of-christ/

  3. Amen to the post. There is a great need of Change for Christians in the West. We have put together a free house church manual giving examples from house church movements in China, Iran and North Korea and the book of Acts, feel free to check it out: http://gospelfellowships.net/principles-book/
